‘Interpol Wanted’ Uruguayan drug trafficker jumps ship to play local soccer
A Uruguayan drug trafficker who had evaded an International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) manhunt with the help of fake passports, documents, and facilitators fled before a major police raid on his Bolivian home. Despite being wanted by Interpol, he appeared to be “at large,” playing soccer in a local league. According to local newspapers such as Eldeber (Bolivia) and El Universo (Uruguay), the day before, Bolivian police planned an operation to arrest Sebastian Marcet, 32, who was wanted on an Interpol Red Notice in the town of Santa Cruz. But before the police could set up a full-scale siege, two officers who had been deployed to the scene and were scouting the area with drones were spotted by Marcet’s private security guards. The heavily armed private security guards detained and beat the officers before releasing them, local media reported. Later, police officers were called to Marxet’s residence, but he and…

The story of the hit-and-run second baseman. The forgotten free agent third baseman… Is there a place for him back?
Now he’s wondering if there’s a place for him in the first team. One of the LG Twins’ sore fingers, veteran Seo Gun-chang, is still in the second team. He started as the starting second baseman, but was sent down to the second team on May 19 due to his continued offensive slump and defensive woes, and hasn’t been called up since. After being sidelined for nearly a month with back pain while improving his form in the Futures League, Seo returned at the end of the first half and has been playing consistently in the second half. He’s been batting first to get a lot of at-bats, and in the last four games, he’s 3-for-15 with a double. He still hasn’t put up the kind of numbers that get people excited. And while Seo is in the second team, the first team has a new owner at second base.…

The league has benefited from the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, and in recent years has seen the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Leo Neves, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Édouard Mendy. Even Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez was on the Saudi radar. Mahrez is considered a technician, with excellent footwork and touch. After joining City from Leicester City, he made his presence felt as a key resource. However, he was reportedly unhappy with his playing time the previous season, leading to transfer speculation. In particular, he was reportedly unhappy after not playing a single minute in the FA Cup against Manchester United and two Champions League finals against Inter Milan the previous season. In the…
