Yoon Dong-hee (20), a second-year outfielder for the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Organization, has opened up the possibility of becoming the new leadoff hitter for the Giants. With her excellent hitting, running, and defense skills, Yoon is making the most of her role on the team and is slowly establishing herself as a central player on the team.

Lotte won the 13th game of the season against the SSG Landers 15-4 on April 17 at Sajik Stadium in Busan. Lotte swept their three-game home series against SSG, extending their winning streak to four games with the sweep. In the game, Lotte set new team records for most hits (20) and most runs (15) in a single game this season. Lotte’s offense exploded, with five multi-hit hitters, including Jeon Jun-woo (4 hits), Yoon Dong-hee, Yoo Kang-nam and Goodrum (3 hits), and Ahn Kwon-soo (2 hits).

Yoon played a pivotal role in the team’s victory with her consistent performance. Yoon started the game as Lotte’s leadoff hitter and right fielder and finished with an impressive 5-for-5 performance, including a double, two home runs, four RBIs, and one walk. Notably, Yoon doubled all three of her hits, marking her first career three-hit game.

In her first at-bat in the first inning, Yoon calmly picked off a pitch from SSG starter Oh Won-seok and drew a walk. She came home on a single by Jeon Jun-woo in the fourth inning to give the Giants the lead. In her second at-bat of the inning, Yoon was retired on a grounder in front of the third baseman.

Yoon didn’t stop there. In the fourth inning, Yoon hit a two-run double to put Lotte on the board. Yoon lightly pushed a pitch from Oh Won-seok to land just inside the right-field foul line. Yoon came around to score another run on a single by Yoo Kang-nam, giving the team its fourth run.

Yoon also created a scoring opportunity of her own in the sixth inning. Yoon again singled to right field and stole second. She scored again when Jeon Jun-woo singled. In the seventh inning, Yoon reached first base on a fielding error by the SSG infielder.

Yoon was the hero of the eighth inning. Yoon hit a double to left-center field in the eighth inning to bring home seniors Noh Jin-hyuk and Jeong Hoon.

Yoon has firmly established herself as Lotte’s center fielder this season. Lotte manager Larry Sutton speaks highly of Yoon’s hitting ability and has been using her as a starter.

Yoon has been hitting well of late, raising her season batting average to .303 (83-for-274) through 17 games. Yoon is expected to compete with seniors Ahn Chi-hong, Jeon Jun-woo, and junior Kim Min-seok for the top spot in the team’s individual batting average if she gets regular at-bats.
